Visiting Colchester with a bike has never been easier! Whether you're visiting local scenic spots or visiting as part of a longer route, our city is ready to welcome you at any point in your journey.
If you encounter any problems along the way, or just want to pause and check-up on your bike, you can visit the Colchester Bike Kitchen. This volunteer-led, inclusive workshop centre is fully stocked with tools and spare parts, and has a helpful team of mechanics present to answer any questions or assist with any problems you may have.
If you want to visit the town centre for a spot of lunch, you can also park your bike up at the adjacent Colchester Secure Bike Park. Open 7 days a week, the secure hub offers pay-as-you-go bookings from £1 a day, and weekly or monthly memberships for regular visitors.
If the weather takes a turn for the worst, there's no need to worry! A little further afield is the Colchester Sports Park, perfect for the adventurous cyclers. This 1 mile, floor-lit closed road cycle track is safe to use in any weather, complete with multiple individual circuits for different abilities. The track is available for club and competition hire, and you're welcome to bring your own bike!
Need some inspiration? There are a number of National Cycle Network Routes which run through Colchester, connecting the city with places such as London, Harwich, and even the Netherlands through National Route 51, part of the North Sea Cycle Network! If that feels a bit too far, you can visit Cycle Colchester for local cycle routes within Colchester.
