Guided Walking Tours of Colchester

The Visitor Information Centre runs a weekly 'Camulodunum to Colchester' walking tours that departs at 11am every Saturday with occasional additional tours, including themed tours, in the summer months.

Whether it's your first or hundredth visit, our guided walking tours are a perfect starting point for history lovers, locals and day visitors hoping to discover Colchester's history and heritage. As part of your tour, you'll explore the dramatic events that have shaped the city, from the destruction of Roman Camulodunum to the Civil War Siege of 1648 and beyond.

All of our tours are led by guides accredited with the local tourist guide association. This guarantees that your tour will be of a high quality, and full of factual information.

Due to the historic nature of some of the sites, visitors with access requirements are advised to contact the Visitor Information Centre in advance to discuss the suitability of the tour - appropriate adjustments can be made to the route with advance warning to ensure you have the best experience.

If you'd like to bring the whole family, tickets are £9 per adult and children up to age 15 are free, but must be accompanied by a paying adult. While our tours are suitable for young children, we do often run special themed tours throughout the year that are designed specifically for little ones which may be a better fit..
