Where to Find Accessible Toilets in Colchester
There are numerous accessible public toilets in Colchester. A list of those managed by the council can be found here, however there are additional privately managed facilities not included on this list.
Most disabled toilets are fitted with Radar locks. Radar keys, which give access to the disabled toilets and open these locks, can be purchased from the Visitor Information Centre when available, alternative local providers or online through reputable suppliers.
Changing Places
There are 2 Changing Places facilities in Colchester City Centre located in Castle Park (at the cafe) and Colchester Library. Nearby Leisure World also offers this facility, and further out of town sites at the University of Essex, Colchester Sports Park, and Colchester Zoological Society. In some cases, additional steps may need to be taken to access changing places toilets, including applying for an access code for the changing place toilets by Cafe in the Park - please contact providers ahead of time for more information.

Castle Park
The Changing Places facility is located behind the Cafe in the Park in Castle Park. Changing Places toilet facilities are for disabled people who need help to use the toilet. They are not for disabled people who can use a toilet independent of a carer. To gain access to this facility you are required to complete an on-line application form to apply for an entrance code. It can take up to 5 working days to receive the access information, so please allow plenty of time before your visit. Colchester Library
Please be aware that Colchester Library is currently undergoing extensive renovation work and these facilities may not be available.
Colchester Library is located in the city centre. The Changing Places facility is located to the left hand side of the main entrance of the library. Access to this facility is through a key available from a member of staff.
