Patch: A Community-Driven, Plant-Led Space
Since opening in late 2022, Patch has become a community favourite, hosting events like supper clubs, wine evenings and poetry slams. With an emphasis on locally-grown, seasonal produce - plus ingredients from their own vegetable patch - Patch not only serves up tasty dishes, but considerate, resourceful food.
On the day to day, you can enjoy breakfast, brunch, lunch and sweet treats in a laid-back environment, plus a selection of drinks - including hot drinks and an alcoholic selection. Here you'll find vegan drinking chocolates, milk alternatives, seasonal risottos and their iconic Patch Chickpea Fries Stack.

Romano Lounge: Where Cool Meets Comfort
If you're looking for an informal, all-day cafe bar, Romano Lounge is the place for you. Perfect for any occasion, the restaurant's big glass windows create a light and airy feel, any time of the day.
While the windows are showstoppers in their own right, Romano Lounge's vegan menu also shines. With vegan versions of classic brunch items, main dishes inspired by flavours all over the world, tapas and tortes, the options are seemingly endless.
Heavenly Desserts: Vegan Dishes for Sweet Teeth
For those of us with a sweet-tooth, Colchester always hits the mark! Luckily, you don't have to sacrifice those sweet treats if you're taking part in Veganuary. It's also great for those on gluten free diets.
With a sleek, modern interior and a varied selection of tasty foods, Heavenly Desserts boasts an entire vegan dessert menu, complete with chocolate shots, mochis, waffles, cookie dough and sundae jars.
This indulgent yet relaxed dessert spot is best enjoyed with friends, but you can also enjoy takeaway versions of most menu items.
Wagamama: Fan Favourites, World Famous
Wagamama has built quite the reputation for veganuary, and this year is no exception. In collaboration with the iconic plant-based chef, Alfie Steiner (alfie cooks), some new limited-edition dishes are set to debut at the restaurant.
The new dishes (the warming 'firecracker chick'n ramen' and the 'crispy vegan chick'n, roasted aubergine and rice noodles in a warming gochujang broth') are joining a strong plant-based lineup, serving up vegan versions of fan favourites like gyozas, bao buns, katsu curries, ramen and donburi rice bowls.

The Olive Branch: Enjoy Syrian Inspired Fare in a Beautiful Town
Based in the beautiful town of Wivenhoe, this Syrian cafe serves a selection of vegetarian - and mostly vegan - food, inspired by the flavours of Syria. There are plenty of tasty plant based options including falafal, hummus and paninis - which can be made with gluten free bread! While you're planning your outings, we'd definitely recommend taking a day trip to Wivenhoe - which can be accessed via the lovely Wivenhoe Trail.
