Mersea is a lovely place to visit, but please be aware it does require some planning. As an island, it is affected by the tide and – if you do not check the Tide Times – you may end up stranded and waiting for a few hours before it’s safe to cross. While the locals are knowledgeable on the subject, be sure to do your independent research ahead of time to plan your day appropriately.
