Join us for an evening of exhibitions and talks celebrating one hundred years since the publication of the first novel by Margery Allingham, Queen of Crime and Essex girl. The event is FREE, but please register for tickets to reserve your place.

Allingham was one of the leading figures of "The Golden Age of Detective Fiction", and along with her contemporaries Agatha Christie, Dorothy L. Sayers, and Ngaio Marsh became collectively known as the Queens of Crime, representing the four women who came to dominate the genre.

The evening will feature an exhibition on the first floor landing and Special Collections Reading Room of the University of Essex Albert Sloman Library, with talks, lectures and readings from prominent historians, Margery Allingham Society members and academic staff at the University of Essex from 6pm in the Lakeside Theatre and will conclude from 7.45pm with a viewing of the exhibition and drinks in the Special Collections Reading Room.

5pm to 5.45pm – early bird viewing of exhibition (First Floor Landing and Special Collections Room of the University of Essex Albert Sloman Library)
6pm to 7.30pm – talks, lectures and readings (Lakeside Theatre)
7.45pm to 8.30pm: – viewing of exhibition and drinks (First Floor Landing and Special Collections Room of the University of Essex Albert Sloman Library)
