About

Take a guided walking tour around Colchester to discover its history and heritage with an expert guide.

Colchester was Britain's first city, and now acknowledged as its oldest recorded town, with a story stretching back over 2000 years. Join one of our official town guides on a guided walk and explore the dramatic events that have shaped the town, from the destruction of Roman Camulodunum to the Civil War Siege of 1648 and beyond.

The Camulodunum to Colchester Tour runs weekly, and is led by our experienced and fully qualified town guides, meaning your tour is guaranteed to be well paced, entertaining, and factually accurate.

** Please note, no tour will take place on Saturday 12th November. A charity Children in Need tour will take place in Castle Park instead, departing from close to the Visitor Centre at midday. No need to book for this one, just turn up.**

You can book in advance by using our online booking system or calling the Visitor Information Centre on 01206 282920 or turn up on the day. Places are limited so advance booking is recommended, particularly during the peak season.
