About
Colchester Archaeological Trust will be running a series of free activity sessions for members of the public at The Minories, Colchester CO1 1UE on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10am until 1pm. This is in collaboration with an exhibition that we are running at The Minories called "THE STORY OF BRITAIN'S FIRST TOWN WALL" which will run from 28 March-15 April 2023.
During each session, attendees will have the opportunity to work with and handle archaeological finds from local sites in Colchester. Activites will include marking finds, which is an important part of the archaeological post-excavation process.
These sessions are aimed at adults, or children over the age of 11. As some of the tasks are quite fiddly and repetitive, we think that they might not be suitable for younger children.
All materials will be provided, and staff will be on site to supervise the activities, teach newcomers and answer any questions. There is unfortunately no parking available on site.
Sessions are limited to four attendees each due to materials, so please make sure to book your ticket here for each adult or child attending. You will need to show your e-ticket upon arrival.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Victoria Sands, Senior-Post-Excavation Assistant at vs@catuk.org.
