About
White Dragon Activity Centre is an independent centre which offers quirky and adventuresome indoor and outdoor activities, experiences, courses and parties for adults and for children aged 7+. It’s named after the chalk dragon on a hillside nearby, which commemorates a historic tale of archers from Bures fighting off a dragon.
A small business established in 2016, the centre is a hidden treasure which is gaining rave reviews on Facebook and Google for its beautiful setting, knowledgeable coaching and its sense of adventure in all it does.
Axe throwing, archery experiences, longbow courses, airgun shooting, survival skills, holiday camps, birthday parties, wedding hire and more are available. Throughout the year, White Dragon hosts special one-off events, from Hallowe’en pumpkin shooting to singles’ nights. An in-house traditional archery club and airgun club meet weekly at the venue and beginners’ longbow courses are available to book.
Set amongst peaceful countryside five minutes’ walk from the nearby station, the centre is managed with an eye for the unusual and incredible care for the natural environment. It boasts:
a castle-themed indoor hall with archery and airgun ranges inside a historic barn
five acres of woodland and lawned space containing 3D archery target courses, axe-throwing ranges, long-distance and target archery ranges, and a woodland survival camp
a shop selling gifts, archery and survival equipment
arrow-making workshops
a display of archery-related historic replicas and a cosy ‘snug’ for visitors.

The postcode for the centre (CO8 5DJ) will lead you to some houses nearby. If you’re using Google Maps, just put ‘White Dragon Activity Centre’ in and the magic of Google will lead you straight to us. If not, continue along Colne Road until you see our signs.

Public Transport Directions
Rail: We’re a five-minute walk up a country road from Bures railway station. Turn left out of the station, left again (be very careful of the road) and take the first left immediately after the bridge. Keep walking, out of the village and along the country road, until you see our signs near a farm.
