About
Excellent, beautiful, inspiring, surprising. These are the most frequently used words in the visitor's book of North House Gallery. People do not expect to see work of such quantity in the smallest town in the country. The exhibitions, which change roughly every five weeks mostly focus on the work of one artist, with mixed shows in summer and at Christmas. Each exhibition is deliberately different from the last. A serious show of a dead artist might be followed by the work of a recent graduate from the Royal College. An artist in mid career might be trying a new direction; another producing gems from years of practice. There are no rules. Some are just fun. 'I have never laughed out loud in response to a work of art before today.' 'The care that goes into the hanging of the work, together with the simplicity and tranquillity of the space, makes for a beautiful show in elegant surroundings.' 'Thank you for yet another really inspiring show - a different way of seeing.' 'Superb to see such great artists.'
There are three shallow steps to the front door but a ramp is available on request.
Most works displayed are for sale and most credit cards accepted.
