Ford Driving Skills for Life Event 2018

Ford Driving Skills for Life is coming to the Colchester Community Stadium in Essex Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd September.

If you’re a new driver and want to improve your driving skills, sign up now — the event is FREE* and spaces are limited, so you don’t want to miss out!

What is Ford Driving Skills for Life (DSFL)?

Ford has teamed up with the AA, RoSPA and BRAKE to bring you FREE* hands-on driver training.

The training is completely practical, aimed towards those statistically more likely to be involved in an accident on UK roads. This will allow you to experience real-world situations and learn invaluable skills from a first-hand perspective.

Ford DSFL gives you the chance to improve on your new driving skills, and learn to control situations that you should hopefully have very little experience in.

Who is the training for?

Ford’s DSFL training is aimed at new drivers (who are typically 18-24 years old).

As a new or inexperienced driver, there is nothing more exciting than getting in your car and going for a drive — and why shouldn’t it be? However, statistics have shown that this is also the time that you’re most vulnerable on the road and likely to make small mistakes with potentially tragic consequences.

In 2013, 2,144 teenage car passengers were either killed or injured in accidents on UK roads.

Of those killed or seriously injured, 68% were passengers in cars driven by someone who was aged between 17-24 (RAC Foundation, 2013).

The only aim of Ford DSFL is to further improve your driving skills and awareness in a fun and safe environment, so you are further prepared for real-life situations that you might otherwise not experience until it is too late.

Please note: You must be aged 18 years or older to attend the event.

Only those with a full valid UK driver’s licence will be able to take part in driving a vehicle.

What does the training involve?

Each session lasts half a day. Morning sessions are 0930 - 1330, afternoon sessions 1400 - 1800. Each session has four main activities:

Vehicle handling (Oversteer control)
Hazard Recognition
Avoidance of Distraction and Simulated Impairments (including the drug and drunk suits)
Technical Talk
