It covers everything from the collection of oysters in Roman times, through the Medieval wool trade to the industrial period which brought companies like Paxman's to the town. There is also a chapter which contains interviews with ordinary working people who live in the town. Patrick Denney's books are a must for anyone interested in the history of Colchester.
