Father's Day

Father's Day

Details

It’s all about DAD at the railway today so bring him along to soak up the sounds, smells and excitement of a real steam railway…
Steam trains will be running all day long and everyone loves our Pump Trolley which will be in action as well. The train-themed play area is in the middle of two fields so there’s plenty of room to play as well as explore the museum, vintage carriages and signal boxes.

If you like puzzles, crosswords and solving clues, you’ll love an Escape Room challenge so follow this link to book the family into an Escape Room in the Victorian Waiting Rooms.

NB: Escape Roomers receive discounted entry to this event.

Take a peek behind the scenes into our working Restoration Shed where grand old locomotives are being restored AND we’ll be running our ‘Taster for a Tenner’ so Dad (or anyone in your party over 18yrs) can have a go at driving a diesel locomotive for just £10!

What about the all important food and drink…?! Our very own little pub, The Viaduct Tavern, will be open for business serving bottled ales, wine, cider and soft drinks. We’ll fire up the BBQ and the Platform 2 Café will be serving light lunches, delicious home-made cakes and cream teas. Alternatively, bring a picnic to eat in the big red bus!

Although the museum is virtually fully accessible, due to us being at a functioning railway station, visitors using wheel chairs will need the assistance of a carer to navigate the separate accessible entrance and security gate on the opposite side of the rail track.
