Janes' Walk Fundraising Supper

Janes' Walk Fundraising Supper

A three-course meal and evening of entertainment (7pm drinks for 7.15pm supper), with food by Colchester chefs - Good Souls Bakes, Flavour Room, Food Without Fuss, and Unique Bakes, and after-supper talk by Hana Loftus, co-founder in 2007 of award-winning Colchester-based architecture practice HAT Projects.

All in the excellent cause of raising funds to support this year's Jane's Walk Colchester weekend (May 3-6th 2019): a free walking festival that takes place in towns and cities worldwide on the first weekend in May to honour the life and legacy of the urbanist Jane Jacobs. This is the 9th year that Colchester has hosted this by now much-loved festival. Proceeds from the evening will support all publicity expenses and related weekend events, allowing the festival to continue to be enjoyed entirely free, as originally conceived, by all participants...

Your menu options for the evening are as follows...

Grilled Chilli Ginger Tomato with Roasted Aubergine and Curried Yoghurt (vegan)

Beef or Seitan (vegan)* and Apricot Tagine with Cauliflower, Pomegranate and Pistachio Couscous and Moroccan Spiced Roasted Kale (*choices will be requested at point of checkout)

Sticky Toffee Apple Pudding with Oatly Cream (vegan)

Note: gluten free and nut free options are available, and we will do our best to meet other dietary requirements, please just be in touch to discuss.

The price of your ticket includes all food and entertainment. There will be a paid bar, also serving coffee/tea, available throughout the evening.

Our guest speaker, Hana Loftus

Our guest speaker is Hana Loftus, co-founder in 2007 of award-winning Colchester-based architecture practice HAT Projects, and RIBA East Emerging Architect of the Year in 2014. Hana is part of the creative force behind nationally acclaimed builds such as the Jerwood Gallery in Hastings, and is privileged to work in some remarkable spaces - the Science Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum among them - and also the co-creator of Trinity Works, Colchester’s newest space for nurturing our creative community. At the heart of all her practice, she retains a philosophical commitment to public and civic projects, which has led to her expertise in people-centred design and participatory planning. HAT Projects are deeply engaged with contributing their creativity and expertise at a local level: currently leading a multidisciplinary team working on renewal issues at Jaywick Sands as well as working on public realm schemes for Colchester Town Centre. Hana is also a member of the Creative Colchester board and a trustee of Roman River Music.

All contributions to the evening have been given freely. Many thanks to:

Hana Loftus; Colchester Chefs - Good Souls Bakes, Flavour Room, Food Without Fuss, and Unique Bakes; Firstsite Colchester for donating the venue and East of England Co-op for supplying the ingredients free of charge; Jean Quinn for organising the raffle prizes; finally, Marc De’ath and Caroline Rhys-Lewis for their inspiration and unqualified support.
