Colchester Castle has stood in the heart of city since the 11th century, although the history of the site itself stretches right back to Roman times. Neil Jones, the artistic director of Castle Park Theatre, recounts the tale of how the Castle was ultimately rescued from destruction by means of a backhanded wedding gift.
