Castle Park Bandstand Concerts at the Castle Park Bandstand

A fan favourite, we're thrilled to share that the Castle Park Bandstand Concerts have returned for another year! These free, open-air events cover a range of genres, so whether you're looking for concert bands, swing bands, ukuleles, or even signed performances. there's something for everyone.

There's no need to book for any of these events, but be aware that seating is limited to the pre-existing benches, so you may want to arrive early to secure a spot! Otherwise, you'll be welcome to stand or sit on the surrounding grass to enjoy the music.

The Sausage and Cider Festival in Castle Park

Food, drinks and great music? What more could you possibly want!

This country-wide event is home to 30 different ciders, kids entertainment, tribute acts and a silent disco, and this year's headliners are 'The Feeling' and (my personal favourites) 'Scouting for Girls'! The event takes place on July 13th 2024.

The Sausage and Cider Festival also easy to get to, located conveniently in Lower Castle Park, which is within walking distance of the city centre.

Secret Island Festival on Mersea Island

One for the DnB fans, Secret Island Festival returns for another year to bring the party back to the island. With dozens of artists, including Hype and Hazard and Kara, and VIP tickets available, this event is bound to be a smash hit for drum and bass fans.

The event is taking place on July 20th on the beautiful Mersea Island, so you'll be able to sample some local delicacies while you're in the area, like some tasty fish and chips or - if you're feeling brave - some local oysters!

Just a few things to note: as you'll also be out in the open air, be sure to bring your suncream! Also, it's important to check the tide times for when you're planning to come on and off the island - otherwise you may get stuck!
