Władysław Mirecki - Chappel Viaduct Art Display
This display will take place throughout the summer during Museum opening hours from Saturday 15th June to Sunday 18th August 2024.

Come along and see the 64 watercolours East and West views of the Chappel Viaduct.

Władysław Mirecki is a local artist (and long-time EARM Member) who runs Chappel Galleries which is based in the village of Chappel – just down the road from the East Anglian Railway Museum.

Born Chelmsford, Essex of Polish parents. He is self-taught, having painted all his life including periods gaining his science degree at Kingston Polytechnic, London (1975-78); as an industrial designer and co-proprietor of Chappel Galleries (1986 – ).

As part of our Chappel 175 celebrations in 2024, 64 watercolours of the East and West views of the Chappel Viaduct – the largest brick structure in East Anglia which carries the Marks Tey to Sudbury line across the valley – will be on display on our Goods Shed from 15th June to 18th August 2024. (Please be aware the display will not be available to view during the weekend of the 6th and 7th July).

The Viaduct was built by the Colchester, Stour Valley, Sudbury and Halstead Railway and opened in July 1849, engineered by railway engineer, Peter Bruff.
