Markets and Fairs

Visit Colchester on the right day and you'll be able to enjoy one of many markets and fairs that regularly occur in the town.

Food and Drink

Colchester's main market takes place every Friday and Saturday along the High Street with a wide range of stalls, including a fantastic selection of food stalls where you can purchase a quick snack or unusual and speciality foods that are generally locally-produced.

Similarly, once a month you can visit the Farmers Market, located in Colchester Art Centre hosting a wide range of local producers selling their wares. The nearby towns of Wivenhoe and Sudbury also host regular Farmers Markets.

Vintage and Craft

Take a trip to the historic Holy Trinity Church, which on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays hosts and indoor craft and vintage market, and keep an eye out for the monthly Bazaar held in The Minories Gallery. You'll also discover several other similar craft fairs that pop up around the town.

Seasonal

As the seasons change so do the markets on offer, and there is always guaranteed to be several excellent Christmas Markets as December approaches. October usually sees the excellent NSPCC Book Fair taking place, and in the summer months you can often find several fairs taking place in the grounds of Castle Park, including Colchester Food & Drink Festival.

Combined with some excellent independent shops and a strong presence from the big High Street stores, you will discover that Colchester offers one of the most enjoyable shopping experiences in the whole region.

Access the shops located in the town centre by catching a bus. All local routes from surrounding areas will stop in the town centre. 

If travelling from further afield, catch a train. Colchester Town Station is located in the heart of the town centre.
