17 Castle Road Details

• Built in the late 19th century and formerly a Quaker bakehouse, Hope Cottage (17 Castle Road) is one of three cottages tucked away behind the houses on this quiet, tree-lined street. The others, inevitably, are Faith Cottage and Charity Cottage.
  
  Hope Cottage is the perfect retreat for two, though there is a sofa-bed downstairs for additional guests. Under floor heating and an authentic Victorian fireplace add to the warm and intimate atmosphere, with a seductively snug living room and a cosy kitchen/dining room. The state-of-the-art Bang & Olufsen sound system gives concert-quality music all over the house while the outdoor courtyard – with its magical concealed lighting – is perfect for enjoying long, leisurely summer evenings. Upstairs, the Edwardian elegance of the bedroom (complete with finest English bed linen) is complemented by an exquisite marble bath/ shower room.
  
  A full suite of self-catering facilities is available including a washer-drier, dishwasher, electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, TV/video, crockery, cutlery and glasses. All towels etc are provided and there is a permit parking in the road outside.

6 Castle Road Details

• No 6 is located in an exceptionally quiet cul-de-sac adjoining Colchester's spacious park. With it’s lovingly restored period details - cast-iron fireplaces in each room, stripped woodwork, antique furnishings and traditional bed linen - the cottage perfectly encapsulates the snug, cosy atmosphere of the Victorian era. The rear garden with table and chairs is sheltered and secluded.
  
  The cottage comfortably sleeps three or four, with a sofa bed in the living room for additional guests. Upstairs there is a super king bed in the double bedroom and a single bedroom containing a 4 ft French wall bed and bathroom. Downstairs the accommodation consists of living room, dining room and kitchen. As well as a television/video and sound system the cottage has a washer-drier, electric oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, crockery, cutlery and glasses. There is a driveway beside the house for off-road parking.
