COLCHESTER GOLF CLUB'S COURSE designed by James Braid

18 holes, par 70, SSS70, gently undulating heathland, with fast-running fairways lined by firs and oaks. This is one of the better Essex courses without doubt. Four par 3s but only two par 5s means that scoring below 70 is more difficult than it might seem at first. Possibly the greatest threat comes in the form of tightly-bunkered approaches to the subtly-contoured greens.

With the pleasant terrain, short walks between green and tee, and a sunny climate, this is a lovely place to be and to play golf. The best time of year is probably late summer into early autumn - August/October - though it is perfectly playable from April onwards.

The general condition over recent years has been very good thanks mainly to the competent team operating under Keith Chinnery, Course Manager.

Prices

The Club operates a first-come/first-off starting system except when the starting tees have been formally block-booked for competition or other group. Evidence of playing ability is required e.g. a handicap certificate.
Regular adult visitor green fees (playing without accompanying member) are as follows:-

Weekdays: Monday to Friday
Round: £35, Day Ticket: £42.50

Weekends: Call for Availability
Round: £40, Day Ticket: n/a

Reduced rates are available for: juniors (£13 any day), concession visitors (£17, only weekdays), members' guests, and for packages including meals.

Winter package is currently £25 for 18 holes with meal included.
