National Express buses run from Colchester town centre bus station to London Victoria bus station every couple of hours. National Express coach tickets can be purchased from the National Express website or First Travel bus office in Colchester town centre.

Is Colchester station easy to find?

There are two train stations in Colchester:

Colchester Station (or Colchester North station) is a mainline train stop connecting Colchester to London Liverpool Street and Stratford in just 50 mns.

The station is a 10mn bus ride away from Colchester town centre. Buses can be caught outside the station.

Alternatively, an historic walking trail, “Fixing the Link”, has been set up to enable you to walk from Colchester station to Colchester town centre. Find out more

Colchester Town Station is a regional train stop located in the town centre. Some trains from London stop at this station, or you can change from mainline trains from London at Colchester Station to regional trains. These trains are for Clacton-on-Sea or Walton-on-the-Naze. The train ride is 8 minutes.

How to get to from London to Colchester by road

There is good access to Colchester from London via the M25/A12 or M11. A 1000 space park and ride facility is located at junction 28 of the A12 and is served by a frequent and direct service into the town centre.
