Heritage Open Day

13th and 14th September 2008

Don't miss out on your chance to explore Colchester's fantastic heritage as part of a special event taking place on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 September 2008.

The two-day event opens the doors to some of Colchester's most beautiful buildings, many of which are not normally open or accessible to the public.  Heritage Open Days provide you with a unique opportunity to explore and enjoy these sometimes hidden, often curious and always interesting places in the Colchester area completely free of charge!

Colchester and Ipswich Museum Service has been celebrating Heritage Open Days for more than ten years and is delighted to be once again taking part in this national event. This year's weekend sees more than 40 buildings open and complimented by special events - so there will be plenty to enjoy, absolutely free.

So if you've always wanted to see behind the scenes at Colchester Town Hall, take a closer look at the Roman Circus or a peek in Bourne Mill come along and be amazed by your past on Heritage Open Days.  Enjoy free access to discover, explore and enjoy local buildings, history and culture.

To find out which properties are open pick up a leaflet and map from any of Colchester's museums or the Colchester Visitor Information Centre at 1 Queen Street, Colchester, CO1 2PG or click here to download a list of properties which will be open.
