Through The Ages
St Botolph's Priory, Queen Street, Colchester

In the beautiful surroundings of the Augustian St Botolph's Priory, thousands of years of history will be explored, celebrated and enjoyed with over 25 different activities to take part in. Starting from the Roman period and through to the Normans, Medieval times and Victorians, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
Roman and Norman Zone
In the Roman and Norman zone visitors can see a chief Roman and his soldiers, meet a Roman scribe, enjoy sheild painting, see spoon making and leather craft demonstrations and much more. Journeying on to the Medieval and Regency zone there will be Tudor re-enactors, a medieval marble game and the chance to enjoy making medieval clay crosses.
Victorian Zone
Moving on to the Victorian zone to the present day, you can see Victorian toys, have a go at butter making, enjoy a swing boat and much more. On the day there will also be the chance to have a go at discovering items in the archaeology sand pit , enjoy plays with History Alive and have a peek at all kinds of stalls including bric-a-brac, books, cakes, plants and all kinds of refreshments including good old fish and chips! (bring some spending money).
Fancy Dress Competition
On the day why not share your favourite point in history by coming along in fancy dress of your favourite era? There will be a fancy dress competition on the day to take part in, so come along and see how you get on.
