Wander down the avenues of medieval merchants' stalls. gathered from all parts of Britain. Marvel at the combat, archery, falconry, encapment life and living history.
The Colchester Medieval Festival Celebrates many of the activities of pre 16th Century England. The centrepeice being the period market. This brings together sixty merchants and Craftsmen, using authentic tents and booths, wishing to ply their trade at this prestigious event. New to the festival this year is the Wrestling. Combatants will 'throw their hats into the ring' to see who will fight whom. By the end of the second day we shall find out who is 'Champion of the Fayre'
Also the Archer of the fayre English Longbow Competition. This fine spectacle of period Archery takes place over both days. The 40 Archers will be challenged by various targets, even some across the river.
This year we will have more musical groups than ever before, so no matter where you are you should not be far from music and song.
Event starts at 10.30am and finishes 5.00pm, takes place in the Lower Castle Park.
