East of England Tourism

09/11/2011

With the government's withdrawal of tourism funding at the regional level in March this year, and in the absence of any transitional funding to enable us to move into a self-financing body, EET has been exploring all other potential options to ensure the preservation of our assets for the benefit of tourism in the East of England.

Unfortunately, we have been unable to find a solution in the limited time available, and the Board had no alternative but to put the organisation into liquidation. EET had already streamlined its team earlier this year so there are no redundancies as a result of this decision.

Bev Hurley, East of England Tourism's Chair, said "It is a sad day for EET, which has done so much to promote the East of England's wonderful tourism assets and made a significant contribution to the tourism economy in this region over many years."

A creditors meeting is being convened by McTear Williams & Wood on 5th July 2011 at The Ramada Hotel, Bury St Edmunds.
