2012 Games - Attention all event organisers!

In order ensure that events run smoothly and effectively in the build up to the 2012 Games, Essex County Council is coordinating what's happening around the County.

Key organisations, such as Essex Police, needs to know of any intentions of major local events that you may be planning between now and 2012 so that Police resourcing for instance can be planned.

For information, the classification of a major event is a large event that would impact upon policing and public service requirements such as a major festival, carnival or other major event.

In terms of things to be aware of during 2012 when planning events and programmes it might be useful to know that:

The Queen's Diamond Jubilee - marking 60 years of the Queen's reign the celebrations will centre around the first week in June 2012.

The Olympic Games take place from 27th July - 12th August there will then be an opportunity for event organisers to win back some attention by organising their events in the period between 13th August and 28th August

The Paralympic Games take place from 29th August - 9th September
