Colchester History Alive!
Colchester History Alive! Is a group of qualified Tour Guides who aim to make the history of Colchester both enjoyable and informative for visitors and local people alike.
In a collection of short dramatic sketches key events and periods in the town’s past are presented in a show that lasts about 25 minutes.
Audiences can
- meet Camilla and Marcellus, Roman social climbers
- listen to Agatha nagging her husband Eadrich the Saxon who is helping the Normans build Colchester Castle
- hear how Tom and Annie in War time Colchester are missing their bananas and custard
Other scenes are available from our current and developing repertoire. All the scenes performed are carefully researched and though there is a fictional element the facts presented are historically correct.
Colchester History Alive! Performs at a variety of events which have included:
- The Copford Show
- Colchester Hospital Radio Show
- The Archaeology Day in St Botolph’s Priory ruins
- The Colchester Street Festival
- And local fetes, school and WI events
We are very flexible and you can even specify which scenes you would like at your event (subject to cast availability).
Fees are reasonable and are quoted on a performance by performance basis.
