Colchester and the surrounding area offers unparalleled opportunities for teachers to take the learning experience out of the classroom and stimulate and enhance their students understanding across the curriculum.

The 21st Century town has evolved through all the major historical time periods, with influences from the Roman invasion, through Medieval, Tudor, Stuart, and Georgian times to the great changes of the Victorian era, all visible on street and interpreted through the fantastic educational programmes offered by the Colchester and Ipswich Museum Service, and the guided tours for schools bookable through the Visitor Information Centre. Students can learn about local democracy on a tour of the Town Hall, get hands on with art at firstsite or engage with the natural world at High Woods Country Park.
